Cricket

Move along if you don’t like the game, I’m going to talk about the Ashes.

Reading the Sydney newspapers today you’d be forgiven for thinking that the drawn game at Old Trafford was the greatest victory since Don Bradman played the game. Does no-one remember the confident predictions before the series started? The colonials are worried my friends, very worried that they are losing the plot and not winning enough games.

Where do I go to put some money on England winning the Ashes?

A Line Out

IMG_3090We went to the Olympic stadium on Saturday night to watch the Bledisloe Cup match. Australia were very average and the All Blacks showed a little of the spark the displayed against the Lions.

Luckily I did take my camera with me and managed to get some half decent shots with my telephoto lens. There are plenty more where this came from, just check out my photos marked with the rugby tag.

On Fatherhood

I love the way JFGP runs down the hallway when I come through the front door after work.

I also love the way he only ever occupies the top third of his bed. Maybe he’s being cost conscious and saving the other two thirds of the mattress for future wear and tear.

I love the way "the Juice" looks at me as if to say "Why can’t you give me food too Dad?"

Action Toddler

IMG_2999JFGP emerging from a tunnel. This was taken at last week’s organised enjoyment session and just goes to show how much fun small people can have at such an event.

As a result of continued attendance at these events nothing that rises more than about fifty centimetres from the ground is sacred any more. The boy will climb on anything at any time. If he carries on like this I’ll have to buy him a climbing harness and a hard hat.

An Update and a Coincidence

Just back from visiting the family in the hospital and picking up JFGP from his evening visit to the Family Whiston (thanks guys). All is looking good and we’re off to pick up SWMBO and the littlest Todd tomorrow morning.

The car seat is down from the loft and the bassinet is ready for some serious snoozing.

It’s pleasing to hear that everyone quite likes the littlest boy’s name, and it won’t lead to any confusion as far as I can tell. I took the slightly larger boy to an organised enjoyment session yesterday and got a little confused myself. They have bibs with the kid’s names on them and I thought I was seeing double because there were two inscribed with "Luca". Which isn’t a bad name except one of them was a boy and the other a girl. It’s not quite an entry into my child abuse with stupid names series but I think on the available evidence it must be a contender for the perfect androgynous name.

Portrait of a Small Boy

IMG_2941Here’s JFGP this afternoon in the kitchen. I’ve been getting some good pictures with my new lens and a willing subject.

I think the credit for this one goes to a small boy though, not least for being very photogenic.
