Comedy

This last week has been a feast of comedy for the Todd household. Last Friday night I managed to acquire tickets to see Michael Moore live at the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm. A fun time was had by all and much merriment ensued. The only fly in the ointment was transport as, due to the firefighters strike, Chalk Farm tube station was closed. Luckily for us the driver announced this in plenty of time and we managed to jump off at Camden Town and walk the rest of the way.

Then last night we saw the Fast Show live at Brixton Academy. What can I say apart from "Suits you sir" and, of course, "Do you like peas? Do you like cheese? Then you’ll love cheesy peas." Marvellous.

Of course it wouldn’t have been a Todd night out without a transport trauma. Molly came along with us, but had been working in Newbury during the day. He hit the road at 5pm and managed to get to Brixton at 8.30pm. Which was nice, except that the show was billed to start at 8. Luckily for us it kicked off a bit late and he and I only missed the first twenty minutes or so. My humour wasn’t improved when the bar closed just as I was about to be served during the interval. Still, we did get to see all of the old favourites live for the last time.

Highlight of the evening for me was definitely Ted and Ralph the musical, complete with the obligatory reference to the drainage in the lower field. In closing, "Arse!"
