We went to lunch with some friends yesterday. The gentleman of the couple (we will call him "Chris" to conceal his real identity) is a definite gadget bloke.
He has classified his seventeen gigabyte MP3 collection in every way imaginable. He has catalogued it in a database. Admittedly it is only Microsoft Access, but its appropriate to the requirement.
Satisfied with this endeavour he has now undertaken a new task. He is collecting the top forty singles from every chart since they were first published in 1952. So far he has got all but about twenty tunes, and most of those are from the 1970s, bizarrely enough. Before we commit Chris to the loony bin he so surely deserves I have only one request, that Mr Molland gets to meet him. Because Matthew won’t believe that there is another pop fan around who is more in need of help than he is, the sad seventies throwback.
